CVSS v3.1 |
| Photoshop Desktop is affected by an out-of-bounds write vulnerability that could result in arbitrary code execution in the context of the current user. Exploitation of this issue requires user interaction in that a victim must open a malicious file. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
drop_monitor: fix out-of-bounds write in reset_per_cpu_data()
In reset_per_cpu_data(), al is computed as:
al = sizeof(struct net_dm_alert_msg);
al += dm_hit_limit * sizeof(struct net_dm_drop_point);
al += sizeof(struct nlattr);
skb = genlmsg_new(al, GFP_KERNEL);
...
nla = nla_reserve(skb, NLA_UNSPEC, sizeof(struct net_dm_alert_msg));
...
msg = nla_data(nla);
memset(msg, 0, al);
Because al includes sizeof(struct nlattr) (the 4-byte attribute header),
genlmsg_new() allocates al bytes of tailroom starting at nla.
However, msg points to nla_data(nla), which is located
sizeof(struct nlattr) bytes past nla. Calling memset(msg, 0, al)
therefore writes al bytes starting from msg, exceeding the allocated
buffer by sizeof(struct nlattr) (4 bytes) and corrupting
skb_shared_info.
Fix this by letting al represent only the payload length, allocating
the skb with genlmsg_new(nla_total_size(al), GFP_KERNEL), and zeroing
al bytes from msg. |
| FreeRDP before 3.32.0 contains a heap buffer overflow vulnerability in persistent_cache_read_entry_v2 that allows local attackers to corrupt heap memory via integer wraparound in bitmap size calculation. Attackers can craft a persistent cache v2 file with oversized width and height values that causes mismatched entry size accounting and fixed 16 KiB reads, leading to crashes or code execution when loaded. |
| In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
s390/boot: Avoid IPL parameter append past command line
A command line may occupy all but the terminating byte of
COMMAND_LINE_SIZE. In that case append_ipl_block_parm() passes a zero size
to the IPL parameter conversion helpers and points the destination one
byte past early_command_line. The helpers subtract one from the unsigned
size and write the converted parameter outside the command line buffer.
Convert the IPL parameter in the command line parsing buffer first. A
parameter beginning with '=' can then replace the existing command line
regardless of its length, while other parameters are appended only when
space remains. |
| snap7 through 1.4.3 contains an out-of-bounds write vulnerability in TSnap7MicroClient::opReadArea() that allows malicious S7 peers to overflow client buffers via an unchecked DataLength field. Rogue or impersonated PLCs can return crafted ReadVar responses causing memcpy of up to 65535 bytes into caller buffers, crashing SCADA, HMI, or gateway processes and corrupting memory. |
| nifti_clib through 3.0.1 contains a stack-based out-of-bounds read and write vulnerability in nifti_convert_n2hdr2nim() because the NIfTI-2 dim[0] value is never range-checked. Attackers can supply a crafted 540-byte NIfTI-2 header read via nifti_image_read() to crash applications or corrupt stack memory. |
| libmodplug through 0.8.9.1 contains a heap-based out-of-bounds write in CSoundFile::ReadDSM() in src/load_dsm.cpp because nPat is never checked against MAX_PATTERNS. Attackers can supply a crafted DSM file with over 240 PATT chunks or a wrapping patt_len value to corrupt heap memory and crash the consuming process. |
| DevIL through 1.8.0 contains a heap-based buffer overflow in iGetPalette() in il_gif.cpp that allows attackers to write beyond a 768-byte palette buffer when loading GIF images. Attackers can supply a crafted two-frame GIF whose second frame uses disposal method 1 with a local colour table, writing up to 384 controlled bytes past the heap allocation and possibly executing code. |
| Progress MarkLogic Server 12.x releases before 12.1.0 and 11.x releases before 11.3.7 contain an out-of-bounds write vulnerability in certain language-processing functionality. A remote authenticated attacker could exploit this vulnerability to cause server instability or limited modification of data. |
| NVIDIA DALI contains a vulnerability where an attacker could cause an uncontrolled out-of-bounds write. A successful exploit of this vulnerability might lead to denial of service, information disclosure, and data tampering. |
| libADLMIDI 1.6.2 through 1.6.2.1 contains an off-by-one stack out-of-bounds write vulnerability in BW_MidiSequencer that allows attackers to corrupt stack memory via crafted MIDI files. Attackers can supply a MIDI file with a note-on using status 0x9F and note 0x7F through adl_openFile() or adl_openData() to crash the hosting media player or game engine. |
| libTiMidity through 0.2.8 contains an out-of-bounds access vulnerability in init_soundfont() in src/sndfont.c that allows attackers to corrupt memory by supplying unvalidated SF2 preset header bank and preset values. Attackers can craft a .sf2 file whose bank or preset indexes past the 128-entry tonebank or drumset arrays, causing heap memory reads, writes, and application crashes. |
| OpenJPH through 0.32.0 contains a heap out-of-bounds write vulnerability in the HTJ2K cleanup-pass decoder that allows attackers to corrupt memory via one-row codeblocks. Attackers can supply a crafted .j2c or .jph codestream with small precinct sizes, causing the decoder to write a second row past the codeblock buffer, resulting in memory corruption and crashes. |
| libInstPatch through 1.1.7 contains a heap out-of-bounds write vulnerability in the SoundFont 2 loader because ipatch_sf2_gen_is_valid() does not range-check generator IDs before the validity mask test. Attackers can supply crafted SF2 files with out-of-range pgen or igen generator IDs to write attacker-chosen values past the zone genarray, corrupting heap memory and crashing Swami or other consumers. |
| FluidSynth through 2.6.1 contains an out-of-bounds write vulnerability that allows attackers to corrupt heap and stack memory by supplying unvalidated SoundFont modulator destination values. Attackers can craft an SF2 file with PMOD/IMOD destinations of 63 to 255 that, when loaded and played, write past the voice generator array and updated_gen_bit, causing memory corruption and crashes. |
| A vulnerability exists in NGINX Plus and NGINX Open Source when a location is configured that uses the alias directive together with rewrite and a set or return directive referencing the $request_filename variable. Alternatively, the same result could be achieved when the $request_filename variable is used in an access log format directive. An unauthenticated attacker along with conditions beyond their control can exploit this vulnerability by sending crafted HTTP requests. This may cause a heap buffer overflow in the NGINX worker process leading to a restart. Additionally, attackers can execute code on systems with Address Space Layout Randomization (ASLR) disabled or when the attacker can bypass ASLR.
Impact:
This vulnerability may allow remote attackers to cause a denial-of-service (DoS) on the NGINX system or to possibly trigger a code execution. There is no control plane exposure; this is a data plane issue only.
Note: Software versions which have reached End of Technical Support (EoTS) are not evaluated. |
| A memory corruption vulnerability exists in FFmpeg before 8.1. The RTP encoding process. In the nal_send function in libavformat/rtpenc_h264_hevc.c, a negative size parameter (size=-3) is passed to memcpy when transmitting H.264/HEVC streams via RTP using a crafted input file. This was detected using AddressSanitizer. |
| An out-of-bounds write vulnerability in the SPI host command interface of Semtech's LR11xx transceiver firmware where a crafted SPI host command with an oversized length field can cause the firmware to write up to 254 arbitrary bytes past the bounds of an internal, non-persistent memory buffer. Exploitation requires physical access to the device and logical access to the SPI bus. |
| bincookie is a header-only binarycookies parser. Prior to 0.1.9, bincookie_init_file() in bincookie.h allocates a buffer using the actual .binarycookies file length but trusts the file-controlled num_pages field as the loop bound for byte-swapping page_sizes entries. A crafted file can make the loop read and write beyond the heap allocation, and related unvalidated page sizes and cookie_offsets can drive additional out-of-bounds accesses in page and cookie iteration. Applications that parse an attacker-supplied binarycookies file may crash or suffer heap corruption that can potentially enable code execution. This issue is fixed in version 0.1.9. |
| rapidcsv is a C++ CSV parser library. Prior to 8.99, RemoveColumn, InsertColumn, RemoveRow, InsertRow, and GetColumnNames converted size_t indexes to int before adding them to std::vector iterators. On 64-bit systems, in a CSV matrix dimension containing more than 2^31 elements, an index above INT_MAX could wrap to a negative iterator offset and point before the start of the vector, causing undefined behavior, heap memory corruption, or a crash. Triggering the issue requires an extremely large in-memory document, requiring tens of gigabytes of memory at minimum, so typical CSV documents are not practically affected. This issue is fixed in version 8.99. |
